This I understand. I’ve been producing conferences for over 20 years – from single day workshops to large, multi-day national conferences.

A Little Bit About Me

I have been teaching and speaking publicly for over 20 years.

I have spent most of my career in healthcare, first as an anesthesiologist and then in various Chief Quality Officer and Chief Medical Officer roles in integrated health systems, hospitals, and physician groups.

I now devote my time to writing, consulting, and speaking.

I have spoken at the annual conferences for the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), and the American Association of Physician Leaders (AAPL).

I’m currently serving on the national faculty for the American Association of Physician Leaders (formerly the American College of Physician Executives) and was recently appointed to their Board of Directors Faculty Advisory Council.

I have served as a guest lecturer at the Haas School of Business and the School of Public Health of UC Berkeley, the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, the University of Michigan School of Public Health, the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Baylor College of Medicine, MIT Sloan School of Management, and Emory University School of Medicine. I also serve as Clinical Associate Professor at Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine.

I have written more than 30 articles in major journals and contributed to eight books. My first book, The Quality Playbook, will be released in November with an accompanying workbook. My second book, The Safety Playbook, will be released in the summer of 2016 with my co-author, Sue Teman, RN.
